Biography:
Fedra is a band with a different proposal within the black metal realm, professing a dark and extrem metal style run by female members, inspired by pagan and dark reasoning, adding blasphemous ideals concerning the darkness, night, evil, paganism, occultism and death.
They arised in 2006 between dreams and heart-rending cries emanating from the depths where temptation, lust and the mundane lives; where men have been sentenced with lamentations, torture, and eternal suffering.
The symphony and the instruments have been called to preserve order amid dreams and prevent those uninitiated to be released … thus giving rise to what is now the first black metal band formed by Colombian women who want to show something more raw, more technical and classic black metal in general, so their songs tend to have different sounds to what is currently seen.
The first band lineup consisted of the voice Andrea Fonseca (Nymis), Catherine Correa on drums (Yathur-ea) and Fernanda Lombana on guitar (Raven), thus giving the start playing covers for the band to unite and grow, and doing shows in small events usually attended by relatives.
In 2008 there were a change of guitarist, when Fernanda Lombana was replaced by Karen Murillo. In 2009 and 2010 the lineup changed much, to featurea: Catherine Correa on drums (Yathur-ea), Nayibe Rodríguez’s voice (Bastet-Lamashtu) and Lina Alonso on guitar (Amdusy-Fork). With this lineup Fedra participated in events inside and outside the city achieving the crowd requirements and expectations.
In 2011 the lineup changed again, joined by Janis Gutierrez on the guitar, Diana M on the guitar, Diana T behind the mic and Catherine Correa behind the drumkit.
They’ve played outside their country, in Peru and Ecuador. By the end of 2012 they’ll play again there and will add Chile, Argentina and Bolivia as part of “The Queen Of Darkness Part 2″ tour.
Fedra currently has songs of their own, and both their compositions and the lyrics are inspired by paganism, blasphemy in human feeling’s dark side, in lives and experiences of each member to handle a unique sound done by them but inspired by the black metal in its roots.
Compositions and lyrics are authored by the band in its entirety.
