Precious Metal’s story begins like many others in the eighties, with an ad in local music magazines. This time the writer was Susette Andres, drummer, and Mara Fox was the first to answer. Together they formed the first lineup of Precious Metal, entirely female following Mara Fox’s desires, who had a lifelong plan to start an all female band from the time she was 8 years old.

Biography:
Precious Metal’s story begins like many others in the eighties, with an ad in local music magazines. This time the writer was Susette Andres, drummer, and Mara Fox was the first to answer. Together they formed the first lineup of Precious Metal, entirely female following Mara Fox’s desires, who had a lifelong plan to start an all female band from the time she was 8 years old.

Among the components of Precious Metal, we should highlight Janet Robin, who received guitar lessons from none other than that of Randy Rhoads.

Sussette Andres was the one who put the band in touch with producer Paul Sabu, to soon after leave the band to play in a band called Wyld Heart.

With a contract with Polygram / Mercury, they released their debut album “Right Here, Right Now” in 1985, which was extracted the single “Bad Guys”, immortalized in a video that still appears on MTV.

It was followed by “That Kind Of Girl” in 1986 and “Precious Metal” in 1990, released by other labels. This album contained a version of “Two Hearts” by Bruce Springsteen, praised by him.

Duet to problems with the new label, Paul Sabu ceased to be the producer, but it was not the only one who left. Alex Rylance left Precious Metal after losing interest in the band. Her place was taken by Julia Farey, contacted in the usual way, through an ad in a music magazine.

The band eventually split but returned in 1998 to appear in the compilation on “What You See Is What You Get, The Very Best of Precious Metal”, which features 21 classics chosen by the band components themselves.

Leslie continued linked to music in and Invincible, Porno Church Of The Ugly Man, Haunted, Only Dead Fish Go With The Current and Kanary, publishing several albums and a compilation, while Janet Robin released a solo CD, “Open the Door” in 1998, “Out From Under” (2001), “After the Flood …” (2004) and “Days Of Summer” (2007).
