Created as an all-female band since the beginning, it’s been a rule never broken even they suffered some lineup changes. They moved to London and started playing in small venues, that became bigger as did they popularity. Their hard work led them to open for Him at the Hammersmith Apollo in 2004.

Mab toured the UK with Breed 77, before going back to Italy to record a tribute song to a remarkable italian singer and artist called Giuni Russo.

The next big step for the band was to collaborate with Franco Battiato, singing 3 songs recorded at the Olympic Studios in London, and one for his movie “Niente e’ come sembra” (2007) which also sees MAB taking part as actresses.

After this Mab had a huge exposure in Italy; they in fact took part as guests together with F.Battiato to the greatest Italian Music event broadcasted worldwide called “Sanremo”, many other TV performances and finally a 2 months long Summer Tour in Italy followed by a Winter Tour in the most beautiful theatres in Italy and Spain.

Mab performed also at the Heineken Jamming Festival and played a special gig in honour of film Icon David Lynch after his conference about Transcendental Meditation that took place in Palermo in 2007.

After a short hiatus, Mab turned back to the stages with a new lineup, and passing from a quartet formation to a trio, keeping the Psycho Jeremy/Jecky core and addind new guitarist Elisa.

Under the dispersed label of alternative metal it hides an original style, which has assimilated the essence of Pearl Jam, giving it a dark gothic touch and sometimes approaching the anger of Rage Against The Machine. The quartet takes much care of the rhythm section, with the bass playing a very important role, as the alternation of melodic and screaming (in anger) vocals.

After sending their first demo to the renowned Nick Launay (Silverchair, INXS, Nick Cave), he got to be their mentor/producer ever since. Under his experience they recorded their first EP, “Amathyst”. As an outstanding band from the “MySpace generation”, assess the media coverage focusing on the network. 23,000 views of its biggest hit “Emily”, and around 10,000 friend requests accepted, they are consolidating an emerging fan base.

They stopped touring in 2008, focused recording new tracks and leaving the stage they’ve shared stages with such as The Sleepy Jackson, Karnivool, 28 Days, Bodyjar or Cog. But in October 2009, they announced a farewell gig to be celebrated the 16th this month, at Cambridge Hotel, Newcastle.

It was the summer of 1990, but it was not until seven years later and several lineup changes that the band matured and finally showed their cards, an mixture of alternative hard rock and melodic guitars.

With this curious name tribute to Hitchcock, but with a feminine touch and thug, Annemiek van Grondel and the drummer Elisabeth Esselink began rehearsing in a dark studio. It was the summer of 1990, but it was not until seven years later and several lineup changes that the band matured and finally showed their cards, an mixture of alternative hard rock and melodic guitars.

They toured Holland, opening for bands such as Hole, Babes In Toyland and Killdozer, but also visited Switzerland, Germany and Austria. The same year they played in front of 6500 people at a concert, and in front of just 5 a few months later.

As a legacy, Bitchcock recorded an EP called “Gusher” and the LP “The Birds”, which garnered good response from the specialized press in their. To move away from a band called Rockbitch, they radically changed its name to be called LeSabre, honouring a Buick from the 50s.

And with the name change they came the problems. After recording an LP “The Devil Is A Woman” which never saw the light, desertions began. Yolande gave way to Abel Canizales the first man entering the lineup, something that Annemiek and Ly accepted despite their traditional opposition. Always wanted to remain a wholly female group, although the good work of Abel changed their opinion. Even so, Bitchcock/LeSabre was injured to end up disappearing, after fifteen years of existence, not enduring another lineup change.
