Biography:
Las Brujas are considered the first Argentine metal band composed entirely of girls. It was formed in 1987 by Gabriela Folgueras, who since then would be the rhythm guitarist of the formation.

After several lineup changes, it came the solidity with Silvia Gers as lead guitar and vocals, Alex Bass on bass and Ysa Sierra behind the patches.

Its principles were hard rock, but they were gradually transformed into a pure metal band.

After several demos and concerts in various locations in Argentina, in mythical places of the metal scene such as “Halley” or “Cemento” sharing the stage with bands the likes of Los Violadores, Kamikaze, Letal, El Reloj o Hermética, they got their first record contract.

The company who put an eye on them was Barca, with whom Las Brujas released “Me Llaman La Loca” in 1989, a record where also contributed Laura Giarruso at bass.

The LP, released on cassette and vinyl, was so well received that in 1990 the fans voted Las Brujas as the best new band in “Metal” Magazine. It consisted of eight own songs and a spanish version of the classic “Johnny Be Good”.

But in 1991 Silvia Gers left the band. Her departure and the problems with the record label led Las Brujas to disband at the end of 1992.

Original Sin (not to be confused with another all-female band with Isabella Fronzoni, ex-Ice Age) was another of the female bands of the first batch, contemporary with Ice Age. The band’s history is closely linked to Virgin Steele, as one of their concerts was the place where the vocalist Danielle Draconis met Cynthia Taylor.

Biography:
Original Sin (not to be confused with another all-female band with Isabella Fronzoni, ex- Ice Age ) was another of the female bands of the first batch, contemporary with Ice Age.

The band’s history is closely linked to Virgin Steele, as one of their concerts was the place where the vocalist Danielle Draconis met Cynthia Taylor.

And unlike many female band at the time, Original Sin did publish an album “Sin Will Find You Out”, thanks to the band’s connection with “The Lion” (aka David DeFeis from Virgin Steele) and the label in which they militated called Cobra Records. In fact DeFeis participated in some of the songs from the album, rerecording “Conjuration Of The Watcher” and “Succubus” by Virgin Steele on their album “The Book Of Burning” of 2001.

This album, apart from its musical contribution, is also remembered for the half-naked torso that appears on the cover, of the model Jody Roxx.

Its lyrics dealt with sex and demons, while his music had clear influences of Exorcist, DeFeis parallel project, as well as the first Warlock. Alternating speed, with power, thrash and classic heavy metal elements, their sound is quite original. It just fails in some high notes that Danielle unsuccessfully tries to achieve.

Shortly after the album’s release, Original Sin disbanded.

Lineup:
Danielle Draconis – Vocals
Cynthia Taylor – Guitar
Pandora Fox – Bass
Darlene Destructo – Drums

Discography:
1986, “Sin Will Find You Out” (LP)
2005, “At The Edge Of Damnation/Sin Will Find You Out” (album rerelease, an split with Deathwish)
