These five young thrashers first performed in Rio de Janeiro, in the classic “Garage”, making a good impression in front a surprised audience. Surprised that a band of teenagers could distribute such dose of old-school thrash.

Already with an average of 18 years of age, the group suffered some changes, gaining aggressiveness to the voices after the Angelica Burns entrance.

In August 2007 they released their first demo “Keep Thrashing!” With 5 tracks in English and Portuguese, which shows influences of the past century thrash bands like Megadeth, Pantera, Slayer, Metallica, Sepultura, Anthrax, Testament or Kreator.

Biography:
Placenta was a thrash metal band from Belo Horizonte. This female quintet released a demo in 1987 entitled “Madness In The Bus”, which contained a single song with the same title recorded during a rehearsal (which Metaladies.com have found).

Their lyrics dealt with subjects as diverse as politicians or the devil (often the same thing, really). There are evidences of a CD recorded in 1992, self-titled Placenta, but there is no “official” record (at least in something as official as the internet).

Looking at the picture we know they were a quintet, but we only have the names of four of its components.

Maria Lucia Alves continued playing keyboards in a band called Cortina De Ferro, publishing an album in 1993.

Lineup:
Simone – Guitar
Maria Lucia Alves – Keyboards
Marília – Bass
Vanessa – Drums

Biography:
Original Sin (not to be confused with another all-female band with Isabella Fronzoni, ex- Ice Age ) was another of the female bands of the first batch, contemporary with Ice Age.

The band’s history is closely linked to Virgin Steele, as one of their concerts was the place where the vocalist Danielle Draconis met Cynthia Taylor.

And unlike many female band at the time, Original Sin did publish an album “Sin Will Find You Out”, thanks to the band’s connection with “The Lion” (aka David DeFeis from Virgin Steele) and the label in which they militated called Cobra Records. In fact DeFeis participated in some of the songs from the album, rerecording “Conjuration Of The Watcher” and “Succubus” by Virgin Steele on their album “The Book Of Burning” of 2001.

This album, apart from its musical contribution, is also remembered for the half-naked torso that appears on the cover, of the model Jody Roxx.

Its lyrics dealt with sex and demons, while his music had clear influences of Exorcist, DeFeis parallel project, as well as the first Warlock. Alternating speed, with power, thrash and classic heavy metal elements, their sound is quite original. It just fails in some high notes that Danielle unsuccessfully tries to achieve.

Shortly after the album’s release, Original Sin disbanded.

Lineup:
Danielle Draconis – Vocals
Cynthia Taylor – Guitar
Pandora Fox – Bass
Darlene Destructo – Drums

Discography:
1986, “Sin Will Find You Out” (LP)
2005, “At The Edge Of Damnation/Sin Will Find You Out” (album rerelease, an split with Deathwish)

Biography:
November Grief was a thrash / death metal band from Montreal, Canada. Initially called Mistrust, their creators were Annie Lecrerc on drums, and vocalist Stéphanie Masson, who took over the bass duties by failing to find anyone to fill the position.

The search came up with guitarist Veronica Lambert, Vero, and the trio decided to rename themselves November Grief, according to them more in line with their style.

A year later they released their first demo, recorded in the rehearsal room in a 16 tracks and called “Evil-ution”, with which they began sweeping through the stages of Quebec.

The sound of November Grief got better with the addition of a second guitarist a year later, Chantal Levesque, who brought fresh ideas and a more forceful sound, as reflected in their second demo “To Live … In this world of Chaos”.

This demo wrapping 9 songs, was recorded in the studio “Le Mer Du Son” in four days. Even so it reached a very professional sound thanks to the work of Jean-Francois Dagenais of Kataklysm.

But here they came the comings and goings of components, which led to the disappearance of November Grief. Veronica left the ship and entered Carole Roy, like Chantal.

The remaining components, their two founders Annie and Stephanie, decided to form another group, Elixirs, later renamed Potion 13 with a more classical and even heavy rock, yet active without any of them in their lineup.
