Area 7 was born in 1999 when the Foronda sisters created a band that pays tribute to acts like Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and Nirvana. After the typical initial hesitation, finally they consolidated as a solid quartet led by Diana and Fátima Foronda, supplemented by the drummer Josie Romani who suggested Karol Uriol's entry, who switched from guitar to bass.

Sofía Moreno, Morita Bastías y Paulina “Poly” Cádiz lit the fuse of Berberis in April 2004. All three had experience in music, with Poly who had participated in more bands, including the thrashy Squad. A californian female metal band of the mid-eighties, Diamond Claw never enjoyed great fame despite their quality. They were formed in 1984 by Debra Lynn Billingsley as vocalist, the guitarist Jenny Thornburg, Mary Jo Godges on bass (DJ at a radio station, in Phantom Blue from 1998 to 2000) and Pam Reene Galloway on the drums.
